To give you an excellent perspective of the delightful character of the secluded little valley that cuts into the coastline between the rugged headlands of Pemmaenbach and Penmaenmawr, click on the + on the pics. The map below shows the immediate vicinity of Trem y Foel. There are nice options for walking and biking straight from the cottage. Public footpaths starting on Mill Lane climb to the Sychnant Pass*. The road over the pass is the original coach route, before the newer roads around and through the headland were built. Sychnant is a popular scenic view point, starting point for walks (North Wales footpath) and is known for wild horses. More directly from the cottage a steep trail climbs to join the N. Wales path from the Fairy Glen (pic left looks down on Capelulo from Alltwen) in Capelulo (your web author has done enjoyable trips westwards to Llanfairfechan and round trips over Sychnant and back via Conwy and the coast cycle path).
